Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim finished 1-2 for Cadillac Racing at Long Beach.

Cadillac Racing’s Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim showed just how worthy of the podium they are this past weekend with a 1-2 finish in Long Beach, making it O’Connell’s 11th career win in a Cadillac.

After leading last year’s Long Beach Grand Prix to only have a break-down 5 laps from the finish line, this race was redemption of sorts for O’Connell, who started out strong this past Sunday, followed closely by teammate Andy Pilgrim.

“I got a pretty good start,” O’Connell said. “Andy may have gotten a little better launch than I did, but there was no way I wasn’t going into Turn One deep. The first couple laps were very challenging. The car was really sliding around after the restart, then the Pireli tires came in and the car really came to me.”

For Pilgrim, the race started off well with his only competition, other than O’Connell, being R. Ferri Motorsport’s Anthonay Lazzaro. This second-place finish gives Pilgrim the lead in GT point’s standing as the Cadillac Racing heads into the next round of the Pirelli World Challenge at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.
