Cadillac issued a press release on Wednesday with the intention of bragging a bit on its 2.6% year-over-year sales increase in the United States last month as well as its success in Canada and the Middle East. The idea was, ideally, to show that Cadillac is organized and ready to make 2015 a year of minimizing mistakes and capitalizing on opportunities.

So they issued the press release with the wrong percentages plugged into the YOY% Change column.

Numbers! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Whoops.

The mistake was ultimately corrected to reflect the actual numbers around the world for January: Cadillac was down 1.4% around the globe with 18,043 sales, the bulk of which emanated from the United States.

Sales in China were down 11.7% with 5,069 deliveries, Canada was up 21.7% with 561 deliveries, the Middle East was up 26.5% with 396 deliveries, and the rest of world was down 16.2% with 337 deliveries. Cadillac cited sales of the Escalade and CTS as major movers in regions where sales increased in January.

Also included in this press release: a quote!

“Cadillac continues its elevation to a higher position in the premium sector,” said President Johan de Nysschen. “As we continue into 2015, the brand will advance further globally with the introduction of important models such as the high-performance V-Series models and an all-new top-of-the-range car, the CT6.”

Those are definitely words!
