Cadillac Sales Up 9.2% in May as XT5, CT6, Escalade See Increases

Cadillac continued its win-streak in the United States last month, posting a 9.2% year-over-year sales increase in delivering a total of 13,211 units. Retail sales were also up in May, rising 9.8% at 12,708 vehicles delivered.

Cadillac’s newest offering, the XT5 crossover, led the way for the brand with sales totaling 5,752 units. This was a 111.5% year-over-year increase from the XT5’s first full month of sales last year and it was 1,259 units greater than that total plus the 1,774 SRX crossovers sold in May 2016 combined. Retail sales of the XT5 were up 110%, and its average transaction price at retail was approximately $3,000 better year-over-year than the SRX in May of last year.

Through May, sales of the XT5 total 24,707 units, putting it more than 7,00 units ahead of the SRX’s sales through May 2016 and more than 4,000 units ahead of the SRX and XT5’s combined total at this time last year.

Sales of the CT6 totaled 1,001 units in May, up 43.6% year-over-year. Retail sales for the prestige sedan were up 44%. Through May, Cadillac has sold a total of 4,383 CT6 sedans.

Escalade sales were also up double digits. The Escalade was up 18.7% at 2,203 units, and the Escalade ESV was up 23.6% at 1,344 units. Through five months, sales of the Escalade are down 8% at 7,990 units delivered, but the Escalade ESV is up 5.5% at 5,6760 units.

Sales of the ATS, CTS, and XTS were down double digits in May and remain down double digits to date. Sales of the ELR totaled 0 units in May.

Through five months, Cadillac’s overall sales in the United States are up 0.9% at 59,493 units delivered, and retail sales are up 1% at 52,623 units delivered.
