Your first look at the Cadillac CT6

On Monday, Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen dropped by Jalopnik for a bit of the ol’ question and answer. He was decidedly better at this than, say, Don Swearingen, insofar as he actually provided satisfying answers for a great many of the questions he was asked.

One of the best questions came from TurboS60, who asked if Cadillac was planning to do away with the 3.6-liter V6 in future vehicles. Rather than putter around with vague allusions to things that might happen, de Nysschen just came out and said this:

We have an entirely new family of V6 engines coming soon, premiering in CT6. We will release technical details of this next month.

Well then. That certainly is definitive.

As we found out earlier this month, the CT6 will be fully unveiled at the end of March before likely making its world debut proper at the New York Auto Show. Cadillac revealed the first look at the CT6 in an ad that ran during Sunday’s broadcast of the Academy Awards.

Other notes from the Prez’s Q&A: the CT6 will price somewhere above the XTS and CTS, the ELR will benefit from a slew of technical updates in the near future, he sees the new Cadillac nomenclature as “a lot more logical, even if its (sic) not particularly romantic” as calling upon tried-and-true names like Deville and El Dorado, and his first car was a VW Beetle that he rolled within 24 hours.

A good man there, that Johan.
