The California Highway Patrol just ordered almost 600 Dodge Charger Pursuit police sedans

Bad boys (and girls) better watch themselves in the state of California. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) just purchased more than 580 Dodge Charger Pursuit police sedans to replace the old vehicles in its fleet, making the law enforcement agency well-suited to catch criminals. After all, the Charger Pursuit isn’t the top-selling pursuit-rated police sedan in the country for nothing.

“Our Charger Pursuit police sedans meet CHP’s stringent payload requirements, and in particular, will accommodate the agency’s radio systems,” said Jeff Kommor, Vice President of US Sales Operations, Fleet, and Small Business Sales for Fiat Chrysler. “The Charger Pursuit also meets CHP’s demand for ongoing fuel efficiency and its desire to be a leader in fiscal responsibility in California.”

Of the Charger Pursuit sedans ordered by the California Highway Patrol, the majority have Dodge’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. This engine delivers a whopping 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, which will give any criminal a run for their money in a car chase. Add the fact that the V6 Charger Pursuit has an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 26 mpg on the highway, and you’ve got one great cop car.

Some lucky members of the CHP force will get the Charger Pursuit models with a strong 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, which churns out best-in-class 370 horsepower.

Along with these awesome powertrains, some of the Charger Pursuit sedans will come with Fiat Chrysler’s largest Uconnect screen available, which stretches across 12.1 inches and is built-in to the center console. Just imagine how easy it will be to catch bad guys in the state of California with these new police cruisers!
