Callaway Corvette SC627 Delivers More Power Than Promised
If you’re promising someone more than you’re actually going to give them, chances are it’s going to blow up in your face. But if you’re promising someone less than what you’re actually going to give them, well, that’s a pleasant surprise for them in the end. That’s what happened with the latest Callaway Corvette SC627.
Originally, Callaway said the newest supercharged ‘Vette would ring in at 620 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. When the final numbers came in, however, official ratings for the Callaway Corvette SC627 were as follows: 627 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. Not too shabby.
The peak 627 hp is reached at 6,400 rpm. This is a 167 increase in horsepower over the unaltered Corvette, and puts the supercharged variant just 27 hp below the Corvette Z06. Meanwhile, torque gets a boost of 145 lb-ft and is just 40 less than the Z06.
Prices for the Callaway Corvette SC627 begin at $22,995 over the original cost of the Corvette.
