Camaro Z/28: Motor Trend’s 2014 Best Driver’s Car
This just in: the Camaro Z/28 has officially been named Motor Trend’s 2014 Best Driver’s Car. The Z/28 was pitted against several other performance beasts that were new or considerably revised in the last 12 months but came out on top.
To choose the winner for Motor Trend’s 2014 Best Driver’s Car, the team at Motor Trend put the models through a number of subjective and objective tests to determine which vehicle was the most engaging to drive. After long hill climbs, digitally instrumented laps, and more, the Camaro Z/28 emerged victorious.
The Camaro Z/28 was the first American car to ever win the award, which has been around for seven years. The six previous winners include the following:
- Porsche 911 Carrera 4S
- 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S
- 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia
- 2009 Porsche Cayman S
- 2008 Audi R8
- 2007 Porsche 911 GT3
Notice a trend? (Cough cough Porsche cough cough)
After determining this year’s winner, the editors at Motor Trend wrote, “The transformation of the fifth-generation Camaro from ‘muscle car that handles pretty well’ to Best Driver’s Car winner is astounding. You feel the superior engineering in how the car responds to inputs both internal and external. From within, the car reacts immediately and precisely to your commands but doesn’t punish your mistakes. From the outside, the Z/28’s suspension attacks bumps and dips with an unbridled passion for keeping the tires on the pavement.”
Congrats to the Z/28. You’ve done us proud.
