Camouflaged 2018 Buick Enclave Caught in the Wild

According to the results of the newest Consumer Reports' reliability study, Buick is the most reliable US car brand

Buick is in the midst of a sizeable lineup overhaul, from the recent introduction of the new Envision crossover and Cascada convertible to the upcoming release of the redesigned 2017 LaCrosse and Encore to the news that the Verano will soon be phased out. It appears that the next vehicle to be touched by change will be the 2018 Enclave, which appears to have been caught testing in camouflage out there in the wilderness.

The current-generation Enclave has been a strong seller for Buick for nine years with little in the way of refreshes, but the vehicle caught in camo by Autoblog’s spy photographers seems to suggest a number of changes that don’t quite reinvent the wheel. Unlike the GMC Acadia, the Enclave’s one-time platform-mate, the next-generation Enclave does not appear to be downsizing, likely due to the Envision filling the gap for a mid-size crossover.

The new Enclave will also move away from the Lambda platform, riding on the long wheelbase variant of the C1XX platform that underpins the 2017 Acadia and Cadillac XT5. This means that the dimensions are not likely to change much, but the images suggest that the new Enclave’s profile will be slimmer and sleeker than the current version. As a consequence, Autoblog points out that the Enclave would likely drop to a seven-passenger setup and lose some of its curb weight in the process.

The new Enclave is expected to hit the market at the same time as the updated 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, which will share the same long wheelbase C1XX platform.
