The 2015 GMC Canyon is widely considered to be the most luxurious truck in the mid-size pickup segment, and the folks at WardsAuto seem inclined to agree with the sentiment. The editors at Wards selected the Canyon—with all of its soft-touch materials and well-appointed goodness—as one of the choices for the Ward’s 10 Best Interiors list.

“It’s important that great interiors be available in every class of vehicle, not just luxury models that most consumers will never be able to afford,” says WardsAuto World Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter. “The Canyon demonstrates that shoppers need not buy a loaded full-size pickup to get lots of soft surfaces, a Bose audio system, supple and durable leather, an easily navigated touchscreen and advanced safety features.”

WardsAuto determines its 10 Best Interiors based on caveats such as design harmony, ergonomics, materials, driver information, safety, comfort, fit-and-finish, and value. While aesthetics and design harmony are the heaviest weighted categories, the Canyon surely scored high marks in terms of driver information and safety thanks to the application of OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi.

The 2015 Canyon SLE and SLT trims all feature two additional USB ports, an eight-inch-diagonal color touchscreen radio with Intellilink, and a multicolor driver information center display. The even-higher-class SLT is offered with leather-appointed and heated front bucket seats with power passenger seat, which likely scores GMC a great many points in terms of overall comfort.

“There’s an elevation of design and materials in the Canyon’s interior that reflects GMC’s precision in craftsmanship,” says Helen Emsley, executive director, Global GMC Design. “Details such as authentic aluminum trim and high-quality stitching reinforce Canyon’s position as the segment’s only premium offering, while features such as multiple USB ports and seats designed for long-haul comfort are thoughtful elements that are essential for active-lifestyle customers.”

The Canyon was also recognized as Autoweek’s Best of the Best Truck for 2015 earlier this year, and it recently topped Cars.com’s 2015 Midsize Pickup Challenge.
