This Lamborghini Gallardo could be yours (for a day) for the low, low price of $2,000!

For most, the idea of sitting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracan is a farfetched dream. Vehicles like that are typically reserved for celebrities, tech moguls, or trust fund babies. The regular Joes and Josephines of the world may see these exotic models at car shows, but driving one around town is reserved only for daydreams. This is where CarHopper comes in.

Founded in 2016, CarHopper is a luxury vehicle rental service, providing customers in select cities with the chance to drive everything from Maseratis to McLarens. Admittedly, the website and service is marketed towards affluent individuals who want the luxury of driving a high-end vehicle to impress clients. But there’s no fine print that says an average person can’t save up some cash and rent one of the vehicles available. You simply must be over the age of 21 and have a valid driver’s license to create an account and start the process.

Where it’s available and what you get

The mobile app and website are easy to use and similar to most rental car websites like Enterprise or Budget. You input your location, pick up and drop off dates, and you’re on your way to finding your perfect, opulent ride. The service is currently available in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York City, and, of course, The Hamptons. Prices can range from $550 per day (for a Cadillac Escalade) all the way up to $2,000 per day (for a Lamborghini Gallardo).

Some of the auto brands available from the service include: Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Land Rover, Ferrari, Jaguar, Bentley, and Rolls Royce. Outside of providing luxury vehicles, CarHopper also has what they call “24/7 Platinum Customer Service and an exclusive community with access to VIP events, both on and offline.” It’s unclear what those VIP offline events include, but my guess is Beluga caviar and bottles of Armand de Brignac Brut Gold champagne.

“I detect notes of pretentiousness with just a hint of delusions of grandeur.”

As you can probably tell by now, the brand’s overall identity is exceedingly smug and members have been featured in promo videos stating things like, “My lifestyle is fast-paced so I’d like my car to reflect it,” and “When I travel to Los Angeles, I’d really like a nice drop top to cruise the PCH.”

The verdict

I’ll admit CarHopper seems pretty cool, but I’m also hoping more regular people take advantage of the service so there are a bunch of Harrys and Lloyds renting Lambos in Aspen:
