Carlos Ghosn is a popular topic on The News Wheel when it comes to Nissan. He is the head of the Renault-Nissan Alliance as the Chairman and CEO of both Nissan and Renault, and a chairman of the recently-acquired Mitsubishi Motors. On April first of this year, however, the LinkedIn celebrity will have to update his profile as he gives up his position as CEO of Nissan.

Nissan announced the change on its press site by referring to the appointment of Ghosn’s co-CEO, Hiroto Saikawa, as the man to take the Japanese automaker’s reins in April. According to the press release, Ghosn will remain the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nissan, so he will keep his power as Chairman of all three manufacturers in the Renault-Nissan alliance. He will also remain as the CEO of French manufacturer Renault, his original position employer before the formation of the Alliance.

According to Automotive News, Ghosn is passing on day-to-day management of Nissan so that he can focus more fully on Renault and growing it into a company with more sustainable long-term goals. Nissan’s acquisition of Mitsubishi, though, is what tipped the scales in Ghosn’s workload. With fewer responsibilities at Nissan, he can also focus on that company’s recent struggles and help them move on to be a valuable Alliance member.
