Cherokee Named 2014 Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee was named the 2014 Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year.

The Jeep Cherokee raked in yet another award last week, taking home the 2014 Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year distinction at the 20th Annual Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) “Mudfest.” More than 20 automotive journalist members of NWAPA selected the Cherokee to take this top honor after two days of testing contending vehicles on autocross, off-road, and paved courses in Snoqualmie, Washington. In total, they tested 23 vehicles from 16 different automakers.

That wasn’t the only distinction for Jeep at the event, however. The 2014 Grand Cherokee earned first place in the Premium Standard Utility class while the Cherokee won in the Compact Utility class.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee takes first place in segment.

“The 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk was named the winner based on its outstanding performance, off-road capabilities, features, fuel economy and value after rigorous testing,” announced Ryan Douthit, Co-Chair of the event.  “The new Cherokee represents a near-perfect blend of the features and performance that northwest buyers expect.”

In total, there were five class categories: the Grand Cherokee’s Premium Standard Utility and the Cherokee’s Compact Utility, as well as Family Utility, Premium Compact Utility, and Extreme Capability. The overall winner (the Cherokee) was chose from the class winners.
