Chevy merely improves the heated steering wheel and removes a map pocket for the latest Bolt model

Chevy has announced the Bolt EV could cost certain consumers only $29,995

If it ain’t broke…

The Chevrolet Bolt EV, one of the latest models introduced to the Chevrolet lineup, is also one of the most advanced vehicles in the Chevy family. When it first arrived for the 2017 model year, the Bolt brought with it a collection of Chevrolet’s premium features.

With how advanced the Bolt EV currently is, many automotive enthusiasts were left wondering what Chevy might add to it for the 2018 model year. As it turns out, the only changes for the Bolt this year involve its steering wheel and a front-seat map pocket.

Chevrolet recently published the order guide for the 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV. It showed that next year’s iteration of the Bolt is only receiving two minor changes.

For starters, Chevy is replacing the heated steering wheel that the Bolt possesses with an automatic heated steering wheel. The difference is that the automatic version turns on and off whenever certain criteria in the cabin are met, mostly determined by the interior temperature.

As for the second change, Chevrolet is not adding something, but rather deleting it. The front passenger seat back map pocket will be removed from the Bolt’s 2LT trim.

Obviously, GM’s autonomous systems aren’t quite ready to be added to the Bolt EV as a brand new feature. However, many suspected that Chevrolet would at least alter the Bolt’s dashboard, as the current model reportedly suffers from an excessive amount of sun glare.

This change could still be made, albeit unannounced, or it and other changes and additions could take place for an interim model of the Bolt released halfway through 2018. In the meantime, Chevy buyers can purchase a relatively unchanged Bolt EV, which, given the generally positive reception surrounding the electric model, is pretty good news for both Chevy and those interested in an EV.
