Are you of the opinion that the Chevrolet Cavalier is one of the greatest cars ever built and deserving of another shot in North America? Well, if you are the one person who thinks that, you will be pleased to know that the Cavalier is coming back to this continent! Hooray!

Chevrolet announced this week that a shipment of 1,701 Cavaliers departed from Shanghai bound for the shores of Mexico. The new Cavalier, which made its debut in China last September, has been a strong enough hit in the world’s largest new car market that the brand has decided to try its hand at selling them in Mexico beginning later this year.

The 2018 Chevrolet Cavalier is built at SAIC-GM’s Wuhan plant, where cutting-edge technologies like 3D-automated gluing and high-precision chassis assembly technology are employed in making it the highest quality sedan possible. The Cavalier features the brand’s recognizable design language, as well as the safety of a two-thirds high-strength steel body-frame-integral and Electronic Stability Control.

Is it too early to speculate about the possibility of the Cavalier making its return to the United States? Yes. Yes, it is absolutely too soon. In fact, short of the Cavalier selling 100,000 examples in Mexico within the first 12 weeks of availability and sending the Wuhan plant into chaos as it attempts to keep up with the impossible levels of demand, it is fair to say that it will be some time before the Cavalier returns to the US if it ever does at all.
