Chevrolet Cleans Up at Auto 123 Car of the Year Awards
Ever heard of the Auto 123 Car of the Year awards? If not, here’s a nice way to learn about them, courtesy of Chevrolet. The American automaker successfully nabbed not just one, but two awards this year, and the winners are the Tahoe and the Corvette. The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe was crowned “2015 Full-Size Utility of the Year,” while the 2015 Corvette snagged the “2015 Convertible of the Year” award—and with good reason!
In order to determine the winners, a judging panel of automotive journalists are invited to rate all the cars available that year in 20 different segments. The Tahoe’s main competition were the Ford Flex and the GMC Yukon, while the Corvette was up against the likes of the Jaguar F-Type and the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Although the Tahoe and Corvette were Chevrolet’s only two winners, the automaker saw numerous vehicles listed as finalists, including the Impala (Full-Size Car of the Year), and the Silverado (Full-Size Pickup of the Year).
Bob McClelland, who is the brand director for Chevrolet in Canada, commented, “We’re honoured to have two of our iconic Chevrolet nameplates recognized by the Auto123.com team.” “Both the Chevrolet Tahoe and Corvette Stingray redefine their segments, providing the world class design, performance and technology our customers have come to expect from Chevrolet.”
The Auto 123 Car of the Year awards are currently in their sixth year. Winners are presented with their awards in Toronto, Canada.
