Chevrolet Colorado Might Change Face of Pickup Segment
The compact pickup truck segment is a dying breed. More and more brands are moving towards the full-size segments as compact sales decline. They want to focus more on offering full-size trucks that have similar fuel economy and price. This could change though with the introduction of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon to the segment.
While information on these new additions from General Motors is sparse, the anticipation for these compact trucks is growing. The big question lies in price—will it be priced for success? Many are hoping for a magic price of $20,000 with about 30 mpg, which will make the Colorado and Canyon worth the switch from the full-size segment to the compact. The pricing of the two models won’t be revealed until late next summer. Until then, we think it’s safe to say that everyone’s giddy with anticipation for the big reveal.
Do you think the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are enough to kick start the compact pickup truck segment?
