Chevrolet Continues to Give Back with One World Play Project
When it comes to philanthropy, Chevrolet is constantly putting forth a tremendous effort towards giving back to those in need. Along with the partnership with Manchester United, the American automaker has a committed focus to provide the power of play in impoverished areas as well.
Committed to People: Preferred owner program
Since 2012, Chevrolet has partnered with One World Play Project in an effort to provide super durable balls to children in harsh environments where their normal balls would be destroyed by punctures. The One World Futbol is composed of ethylene-vinyl acetate foam and self-inflates, essentially making it indestructible.
In a recent trip to the Philippines, One World Play Project and Chevrolet made a delivery of 500 of the durable balls to six schools on the island of Cebu. The automaker traveled in a Chevy Trailblazer and Colorado to overcome the challenging roads during the delivery.
Along with providing play to the children in those schools, Chevrolet also assisted in repairing and renovating the roofs and plumbing of Nicolas Tiongko High School and Lawaan Elementary and High School. Back in November of 2013, Typhoon Haiyan ruthlessly damaged the schools. The following year, Typhoon Hagupit (also known as Typhoon Ruby) came through and caused additional damage, which made it difficult to repair the schools.
Built to Last: Find the perfect Chevrolet for you
On the other end of the philanthropic spectrum, One World Play Project traveled to Myanmar to provide the power of play to children in Tuang Kone Village. The reputation of the One World Futbol preceded itself, as the children of the village instantly recognized the durable ball with smiles on their faces.
