Chevrolet Crossover Sales Set New Monthly Record in April
Chevrolet’s overall April sales were down 10.4% with 164,367 vehicles delivered, and retail sales were down 7.5% at 124,535 vehicles delivered, but there were significant bright spots to be found with regards to new vehicles and segment success stories.

Chevrolet’s crossover sales for the month, both at retail and in total, set a new April record and helped bring the brand a new year-to-date record in both respects. This was led to a great degree by the Trax, which saw a 44.3% year-over-year overall gain with 6,509 units delivered and a 45% increase at retail, both good for new April records. To-date, the Trax has seen a 36.4% overall sales increase with a total of 24,870 examples delivered, giving it a new calendar year to date sales record overall and at retail.
Also setting retail records in April was the Traverse, which was up 19% for the month. Traverse’s retail sales are also the best it has seen for a calendar year through four months, all despite the fact that its overall sales to date are down 0.8% at 38,789 units. Equinox’s overall sales were up 0.2% in April at 20,655 units sold, and its retail sales were up 23%.
The Chevy Cruze also made considerable gains in April with total sales of 21,317, up 50.6% year-over-year. Retail sales were up 24%.
April also marked another strong month for the Bolt. Deliveries of the new Chevrolet EV totaled 1,292 vehicles, bringing its to-date tally to 4,384 units.
With four months in the books, Chevy’s US sales total 636,090 vehicles, down 3.1% from its pace through April 2016.
