Hatchbacks have been a staple of European car markets for years, as their configurations make it easy to carry more gear or larger items without having to buy a bigger sport utility vehicle. GM North America CFO John Stapleton announced the American Cruze hatchback at the Citi 2015 Industrials Conference, according to The Detroit News. It had been rumored that the car would appear in America after it was reportedly in Las Vegas for a meeting of GM dealers.
