The Chevrolet Cavalier 325T was just launched in China

Chevrolet is introducing the newest addition to its Cavalier lineup in China. The Cavalier 325T is being marketed as a “compact mid-size family sedan” with a variety of updated powertrain options.

The Cavalier 325T is powered by a new-generation Ecotec 1.0-liter three-cylinder dual-injection turbocharged engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine features upgraded efficiency and delivers about 118 horsepower and 122 lb-ft of torque.

The Cavalier 325T is available in two variants and five colors. Its exterior incorporates an elegant, flowing design, while the interior provides plenty of space for passengers.

A variety of high-tech features come with the Cavalier 325T, including a 7-inch high-definition touchscreen, surround-sound audio, and compatibility with Baidu CarLife (essentially the Chinese equivalent of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto). There’s also a particulate air filter to help ease the effects of China’s widespread pollution.

The Cavalier 325T continues Chevy’s reintroduction of the nameplate in China

Advanced safety features on the Cavalier 325T include an Electronic Stability Control system with 14 electronic subsystems. The frame is reinforced with high-strength adhesive, and 67% of the body-frame-integral structure is made with high-strength steel.

The Cavalier nameplate was discontinued in the U.S. more than a decade ago, making way for the Cobalt and the Optra. In 2016, though, it was revived for the Chinese market. So far, more than 240,000 Cavaliers have been sold there.

In recent years, General Motors has increased its efforts to target the Chinese auto market. That has translated into considerable sales success. China is now GM’s biggest retail market, with a record 4 million vehicles sold there in 2017.
