Chevrolet and John Force Racing, Inc have reunited

Today, Chevrolet and John Force joined forces, forcing journalists to jam forced wordplay into their stories.

To put that a bit more simply: Chevrolet and John Force Racing, Inc announced a multi-year agreement to back the 18-time NHRA Funny Car championship team, beginning with the 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. All three John Force Racing Chevrolet Camaro Funny Cars and the JFR Top Fuel dragster will feature the golden Chevy bowtie.

It’s a return to form for Force, who began his legendary career behind the wheel of a Chevy Corvette back in the late seventies. Force also drove a Chevrolet Citation, Camaro, and Cavalier, and won the 1994 NHRA Funny Car championship in a Chevy Lumina.

“It is great to be back with Chevrolet,” said Force, in a statement released by the automaker. “I started my career in a Chevy and my plan is to keep racing with them for many years to come. This is a great American company and we are excited about the opportunities in front of us.”

“I won my first round of racing, went to my first final and got my first No. 1 in a Chevy,” he added. “Since then I have won more rounds, races and championships than anyone in the sport. I have the record for most No. 1 qualifiers too and I can’t wait to get to the Winternationals and start adding to those records in a brand new Chevy.”
