Chevrolet Makes List of Top Global Green Brands

For the first time in company history, the Bowtie Brand has landed a spot on Interbrand’s Best Global Green Brands report. Chevy managed to claim the 32nd top spot for 2014, largely due not just to the brand’s vehicles’ efficient performance but also to the incredibly green standards with which they are manufactured.

“What was most compelling about Chevrolet’s data was the very small gap between public perception and environmental performance,” said Jez Frampton, Interbrand’s global CEO. “The company is not only actively demonstrating its environmental commitment; it’s communicating those efforts in an authentic way that resonates with customers.”

Chevy’s successful small, compact, and mini cars speak tremendously to the brand’s commitment to the environment. Reportedly, the automaker’s share of those three car segments—with the Cruze, Sonic, and Spark—has tripled since the Cruze launched four years ago.

“People want to buy fuel-efficient cars from companies that share their social and environmental values,” explained Alan Batey, General Motors senior vice president, Global Chevrolet. “Chevrolet is engineering innovative technologies into all of our vehicles to improve fuel economy, and our customer-driven sustainability philosophy is driving many new customers to our dealerships.”
