Chevrolet Planning for a New Crossover
With the Chevrolet Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, and Suburban, you would think that Chevrolet has all the bases covered when it comes to sport utility vehicles.
Well, you would be wrong.
According to a report by Automotive News, Chevrolet is planning on adding another crossover to the brand’s line up. This new vehicle would be situated between the Chevrolet Equinox (a large crossover) and the Chevrolet Traverse (the smallest full-size SUV Chevrolet offers). This means it would still be more of a crossover than strict SUV, but it would be on the larger end of the spectrum.
The next generation of the Chevrolet Equinox is expected to be unveiled for 2017, and experts expect it to shrink slightly in size and utilize the global compact platform the Chevrolet Cruze is built on. The Traverse is also looking at an upcoming redesign, which will leave comfortable room between the two models for the new addition.
It has also been speculated that this new crossover will hold three rows of seats and be a short-wheelbase take on the Traverse’s style. A new crossover could help Chevrolet take on competitors like the Nissan Murano and Ford Edge, which are more luxurious than the Equinox but not as large as the Traverse.
