After nearly two years of waiting, the Chevy Bolt EV has finally arrived, like an early Christmas present for EV-lovers.

Or at least, an early Christmas present for West Coast EV lovers. Electric car aficionados in the rest of the United States may have to accept the Bolt as a belated gift.

Bolt EVs are currently in transit to California and Oregon markets, and set to arrive later this month. The national rollout, however, isn’t set to begin until 2017, with several Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states including New York, Massachusetts, and Virginia scheduled to receive their first deliveries this winter. Bolt EV-certified dealerships nationwide should be stocked with the EVs by mid-2017.

But even though it will take a few months to go nationwide, today does mark the official sales launch of the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV, and to celebrate, the bowtie brand put out a video detailing its production.

The video plays up the whole “the future is now” angle of the Bolt, which delivers 236 miles of electric range for a starting price of around $30,000 (after federal tax credits). We see people in lab coats, automated machines putting together the pieces, a giant-ass battery—stuff looks pretty high tech-y!

“All of the hard work that the Chevrolet team have put into designing, engineering and building the Bolt EV brings us to this truly satisfying moment of making the first deliveries to customers on-time, as planned,” Alan Batey, president of GM North America and Global Chevrolet brand chief, said in a statement today. “Only Chevrolet is able to offer a vehicle like the Bolt EV, with ground-breaking technology wrapped in a modern design that is also fun-to-drive at an affordable price.”
