Chevrolet Sales Make a Major Rebound in March with a 15.6% Increase
Thanks in part to numerous incentives, Chevrolet was able to follow up a rather negative sales month in February with major sales gains in March
Chevrolet got its sales groove back in March
Chevrolet finished up February this year with an overall sales decline of 8.8%, due in part to a 16.3% sales decline for the Silverado. Nevertheless, Chevrolet has made quite the rebound in terms of sales during March.
Last month, Chevrolet sales were up by a total of 15.6%.

By the end of March, Chevrolet had sold a total of 199,367 vehicles. During March of 2017, Chevrolet only managed to sell 172,458 vehicles.
149,089 of those vehicles were sold during retail transactions. As such, Chevy’s retail sales were up by 11.5%.
Silverado sales were back on the rise last month
The Chevrolet Silverado found redemption this month in the form of a 23.9% sales increase. Chevy managed to sell 52,547 Silverado units, compared to the 42,410 units it sold during March of 2017.
This fantastic sales performance last month helped the Silverado achieve a 5.5% sales increase so far this year. As of the end of March, Chevrolet has sold 135,545 of its Silverado vehicles.
Chevrolet’s other truck, the Colorado, also performed well last month. Colorado sales came in at 12,798 units, a 51.9% sales increase.
Sales were also up for the Silverado’s smaller cousin
Chevrolet’s numerous SUVs and crossovers experienced major sales gains during March. For example, sales for the Chevy Equinox were up by 40.9%.
The Chevrolet Traverse had a similar sales gain of 41%. Chevy sold 15,023 units of the vehicle last month.
A Legacy to Live Up To: 100 years of Chevrolet trucks
Even some of Chevy’s sedans and hatchbacks managed to experience sales gains during the month of March. The Malibu came close to outselling the Cruze, with a total of 14,707 sales for the mid-size sedan versus the 16,122 units of the Cruze sold.
Due to numerous incentives, the Chevy Sonic and Chevy Spark were some of the least expensive new vehicles on the market. As such, Sonic sales were up by 16.2%, whereas Spark sales were up by 2.5%.
Sales gains for the Sonic and Spark are especially rare
Unfortunately, sales for Chevy’s performance models continued to decline. The automaker only sold 2,101 Corvettes last month, a sales decline of 14.6%.
The sales decline was even more severe for the Chevrolet Camaro. Camaro sales were down by 25.6%, with a total of 5,245 units sold.
Chevrolet’s performance portfolio saw some major sales losses
Thanks to the sales boost in March, Chevrolet sales are up by 4.1% at the end of 2018’s first quarter. Chevrolet has sold a total of 490,919 vehicles so far this year.
Recently, General Motors announced that it will release its sales reports on a quarterly basis, rather than a monthly basis, from henceforth. Until then, you can examine how each Chevrolet vehicle did during March using the chart below:
