Chevrolet Silverado HD Takes Top Spot in JD Power Dependability Study, Crushes Meh Competition
Chevrolet’s engineers designed the Silverado HD to be a strong, dependable truck, with a maximum towing capacity of 18,000 pounds, a maximum payload of 3,534 pounds, and a frame built out of high-strength steel.
Now, it seems that J.D. Power concurs with the Chevy engineers’ ideas of dependability, because the Chevrolet Silverado HD has been ranked the highest in its segment in the 2016 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, marking the second year in a row that the pickup truck has been selected as the top Large Heavy Duty Pickup in terms of dependability.
The Vehicle Dependability Study is based on responses pulled from 33,560 original owners of 2013 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership, with polls covering eight major vehicle categories and 177 specific problem symptoms.
The Silverado HD actually has a new claim of peerlessness after this study in addition to being able to call itself the most dependable heavy-duty pickup. In the results, the Large Heavy Duty Pickup segment has a small asterisk by its title, which when followed to the bottom, reads “No other model in this segment performs above segment average.” So, in short, the Silverado HD is not just the best pickup in its segment, it is the only one that could be called above average.
We think that that says a lot that a gentleman in a light brown beard with a clipboard just can’t convey.
