Chevrolet Takes Part in New York Fashion Week with Essence
During New York Fashion Week this month in the Big Apple, designers showcased their collections on the catwalk. Chevrolet and Essence magazine teamed up to make sure that all voices in the fashion world were heard, hosting the Essence Street Style Block Party in the trendy DUMBO section of Brooklyn.

The event highlighted up-and-coming African-American fashion designers, and the party footprint was filled with vendors offering everything for the aspiring fashionista such as jewelry, accessories, clothes, and food.
Prominent African-American stylists and other trendsetters helped put on “Street Style” fashion shows throughout the event which featured local goods and popular fashion experts as the models. Several DJs and R&B artists, like Andra Day and Olivia Dope, provided music to make sure the block party truly felt like a celebration.
Essence Editor-in-Chief Vanessa K. De Luca said, “Our Street Style Block Party clearly resonates with women as a manifestation of our desire to own our unique style and beauty, and to see this uniqueness celebrated.”
Chevy chose two of the featured designers, Charlene Dunbar and Ashley Ryles, to create a small capsule collection to complement the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. One of the previous year’s featured designers, Ron Bass, was on hand to offer guidance as a Chevy Chic alumni.
If you had to design a fashion collection around a car, which model would you choose?
