2018 marks the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet’s lineup of trucks. Late last month, the automaker revealed how it planned to celebrate this momentous occasion: the 2018 Chevy Silverado Centennial and Chevy Colorado Centennial.

Among the many features equipped to the special edition pickups, perhaps the most notable is the Heritage Bowtie Badge, a throwback to Chevy’s classic emblem. According to official Chevy sources, this badge won’t be limited to just the two Centennial models.

In fact, Chevrolet will offer its Heritage Bowtie Badge as an after-market accessory.

This information comes straight from Sandor Piszar, the director of Chevrolet Trucks marketing. Piszar told GM Authority that the dynamic badge design would be offered as a standalone accessory in the near future.

Rather than use the shade of gold found in Chevrolet’s modern badge, the Heritage Bowtie uses a shade of dark blue, once found on the “bowties” of many classic Chevrolet models. Furthermore, the “Chevrolet” moniker is written within the bowtie in the original font that the automaker employed during its earliest years.

While the badge may make its way to other Chevrolets, it will first appear on the special-edition Silverado and Colorado. The 2018 Chevy Silverado Centennial will be available at dealerships by the end of this month, with the 2018 Chevy Colorado Centennial being released sometime in November.

Piszar didn’t exactly reveal when the badge would be available for purchase, or what vehicles it could potentially be equipped to. This information will likely become available as Chevy’s 100-day truck-centered centennial draws closer.
