Chevrolet Updates the 2019 Malibu with CVT
If you’re a fan of Chevy sedans, you’ve likely wondered whether the Malibu would ever get a continuously variable transmission. Now, Chevrolet has announced that the refreshed 2019 Malibu will indeed boast CVT.
This new transmission option is available on all versions of the 2019 Malibu powered by the 1.5-liter LFV four-cylinder turbo engine. The only two exceptions that lack the CVT transmission are the Malibu Premier and Hybrid versions.
Perks of CVT
There are many advantages of a CVT. For starters, it’s lighter than a conventional automatic transmission, which helps boost efficiency. It also supplies the vehicle with strong, smooth acceleration, even when driving over hilly terrain. That’s because it lacks gears. A CVT operates via a system of variable-width pulleys joined by a belt. One pulley connects to the engine, while the other transmits power to the wheels. Depending on how much power is required, the pulleys’ widths adapt, to enhance the vehicle’s response and acceleration in a variety of driving conditions.

More Malibu perks to anticipate
CVT isn’t the only element to rejoice in for the 2019 Malibu, which is poised to hit showrooms this fall. The Malibu L trim incorporates a rear vision camera, while the Premier trim adds outboard rear seats. Consumers now have a wider array of color choices for both the exterior and interior of the Malibu, no matter which version of the model they pick.
The RS trim is another new aspect of the 2019 Malibu. Drama and luxury are the two most apparent qualities of this offering. The model includes a black bowtie emblem and sport grille, as well as a rear spoiler and 18-inch machined wheels. Black cloth seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel give the cabin a more premium feel. Passengers can also engage with an easy-to-read 8-inch diagonal color touch screen to easily access their favorite apps while on the go.
