New Chevrolet Low Cab Forward trucks begin shipping to Chevy dealers

Today Chevrolet announced that the automaker’s new Low Cab Forward trucks have begun shipping to Chevy dealers across the country. The new Low Cab Forward series marks the bowtie brand’s return to the medium duty market, expanding its truck portfolio to now include midsize, light duty, and heavy duty pickups.

“We’re in the business of helping our commercial customers succeed, and a big part of that is providing the vehicle choices they need to efficiently operate their businesses,” said General Motors Fleet US Vice President Ed Peper. “Our new Low Cab Forward trucks are the answer for our customers who require expansive payload, cargo-hauling capabilities and exceptional maneuverability.”

Among its selling points, the Chevrolet Low Cab Forward features a maneuverable Cab Over design for greater visibility, as well as a tight turning radius to make hauling easier in crowded, urban environments.

The new trucks are available in both regular cab and crew cab body styles, and can be equipped with either a 6.0-liter V8, 3.0-liter turbo-diesel, or a 5.2-liter turbo-diesel engine. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard across all trims and engines.

Maximum GVWR ranges of up to 19,500 pounds are available on class 3 through 5 models.

“Drivers will love this truck because it’s comfortable, versatile and easy to drive, but the thing that will set us apart for owners-operators and fleet managers is ease of service through a nationwide network of Chevrolet commercial dealers,” said John Schwegman, GM Fleet’s director of commercial product.

Gasoline engine trucks will carry a starting MSRP of $40,900, and diesel variants will begin at $48,375 (including a $1,125 destination charge but excluding tax, title, license, and dealer fees).
