Chevy Bolt Starts Shipping ‘In Volume’

2017 Chevrolet Bolt

The Chevy Bolt recently began deliveries at certain dealerships; however, so far, those deliveries have been in limited numbers to a few dealer lots in Oregon and California, as well as a few in Canada.

Now, though, Chevrolet has confirmed that Bolt deliveries have truly begun in earnest, with models arriving in Northern and Southern California “in volume.” Reportedly, a pair of trains, one headed to the San Francisco Bay Area depot and one headed to Mira Loma, are being trucked to dealers.

Soon, deliveries will be heading to Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, with New York, Massachusetts, and Virginia receiving the first deliveries. And, with reports suggesting that about 100 units per day have been being manufactured since November, these deliveries are likely to be in volume, as well.

In the meantime, the Bolt has been securing more and more awards, most recently clinching the title of Car of the Year from the Detroit Free Press, after previously winning Green Car of the Year at the LA Auto Show, Green Car Reports’ Best Car to Buy for 2017, and Motor Trend Car of the Year, not to mention earning the top spot in my own list of top plug-in cars of the year.

We will have to wait for the first month’s sales numbers until next week—the number to beat would probably be the Toyota Prius Prime’s first-month sales of 781 units (a record for plug-in vehicles first month), although only if deliveries were in sufficient volume.
