Chevy Brings Affordable Diesels to U.S. Market with 2014 Cruze
Did you know that the average price for gasoline in Europe is upwards of $8 a gallon? Well it is, so it makes sense that Europeans would take advantage of every possible resource to save money on gas. That is why about half of all passenger cars sold across the pond are powered by diesel fuel, as it delivers approximately 30 percent better fuel economy.
Sure, our gas prices aren’t approaching $10 a gallon (yet), but we here in the states would like to save money too! That’s where the 2014 Chevy Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel comes in. With the Cruze Diesel, Chevy becomes the first of the Detroit automakers to offer an affordable diesel alternative.
“We harnessed generations of diesel expertise to adapt our world-class global engine for the North American market,” said Gary Altman, chief engineer of the Cruze Diesel, in a press release. “The Cruze Diesel is the best diesel passenger car out there. Chevrolet is redefining the meaning of great fuel economy with this car.”
So just how good is the fuel economy in the Cruze Diesel? The revolutionary, diesel-powered engine returns and industry best EPA-estimated 46 mpg highway.
Welcome to America, diesel power. Stay awhile.
