Chevy Cancer Survivors Celebrate National Teddy Bear Day
Will donate teddy bears to children suffering from cancer
Today is National Teddy Bear Day (yes, that’s a thing), and General Motors is marking the occasion via teamGM Cares (it’s also teamGM Cares Week), which has three Chevy cancer survivors of the GM Asset Management team delivering 48 small teddy bears and one not-so-small teddy bear to the Sunshine on Wheels program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, in Manhattan, New York.
In addition to today being National Teddy Bear Day and this week being teamGM Cares week, this month is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, making the donation even more timely.
“As someone who believes in the power of charity and altruism, as well as one who has been impacted by the effect cancer has had on my family, I am excited to participate in this donation and partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering,” commented Sean Graham, director of Investment Operations for GM Asset Management, and a Chevy cancer survivor. “I hope we are providing as much of a benefit to these children and staff as we are receiving by giving back in this small way.”
A 2015 Chevy Suburban will escort the 48 bears through downtown New York to Memorial Sloan Kettering—because what other vehicle would hold that many bears? The giant 51-inch-wide bear, however, will ride shotgun in a 2015 Corvette Stingray Convertible.

During this teamGM Cares Week, GM employees from across the country are volunteering in various ways throughout their communities, though we have to say, delivering a giant teddy bear in a Corvette Stingray is probably one of the most unusual.
