It was no coincidence that Chevy chose Independence Day to debut its new commercial to promote the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.  After all, there is nothing more American than a pickup truck and Chevy hoped to tug on those patriotic heart strings with the premiere of its “Strong” commercial.

The campaign’s namesake is taken from the title of its featured song by Grammy-nominated artist Will Hoge.  The song’s lyrics tell the story of strong men and women; the kind you find across America, but especially in Texas, where the “Strong” campaign began.

“There is no more appropriate place to launch the new Silverado campaign than in Texas, the heart of truck country, and no better way to launch it than through music,” said Tim Mahoney, Global Chevrolet chief marketing officer, in a press release. “The song “Strong” celebrates Silverado owners who are as dependable and capable as their trucks.”

The message is all well and good, but at the end of the day the purpose of the commercial is to sell trucks.  Check out the extended version of the “Strong” commercial and let us know if you think it has the power to move the all-new 2014 Chevy Silverado off the lot.
