Last month, the 2015 Chevy Equinox had a record January, with close to 20,000 models sold. It was a 34% increase in year-over-year sales that made the compact SUV the brand’s second best-selling vehicle, behind only the Silverado full-size pickup.

With satisfyingly palindromic sales of 242,242 Chevy Equinoxes last year, the vehicle accounted for over 9% of the compact SUV market in 2014. So basically, the Equinox made up one-tenth of the auto industry’s largest segment, which is only continuing to get bigger.

“In one of the industry’s most competitive segments, the Equinox continues to win customers with its value-driven balance of performance, versatility and personal connectivity,” said General Motors North America President Alan Batey. “It also represents the depth of Chevrolet’s strong SUV lineup, ranging from the all-new Trax small SUV and Traverse to the redesigned 2015 Suburban and Tahoe.”

We’ll be on hand to cover the unveiling of the 2016 Chevy Equinox when it debuts this Thursday, February 12th, at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.
