Chevrolet yesterday cut the ribbon at the football pitch at the Mabu-a-tlou Primary School in Hammanskraal, South Africa. Chevy, in collaboration with The Dreamfields Project, renovated the pitch to benefit the Hammanskraal Girls Soccer program, as well as the surrounding community. This renovated pitch is called Mabu-a-tlou Lebala la Mestshamkeo, which means Mabu-a-tlou Playground.

On Saturday, Chevy delivered its 1 millionth One World Futbol to the very same school. Chevy hopes to promote female empowerment and to facilitate the learning process for children in terms of conflict resolution, health awareness, and gender equality.

“We identified the project in Hammanskraal a while ago as we realized there was a real need for football facilities in this area,” said Tim Hendon, Chevrolet brand manager, South Africa. “Together, in partnership, we can move the goal posts and bring dreams to life. All it takes is dedication, determination, an unrelenting passion and a love for the game. Sport can really change lives.”

Chevrolet has revitalized two other pitches this year: one in Bandung, Indonesia, and one in Chicago, Illinois.
