New Equinox Ad Displays the Comical Risks of Chevy Siri Integration
Voice recognition software is all the rage in the automotive industry, and rather than creating their own tech from scratch, Chevrolet partnered with a proven interface that has been a favorite of iPhone users for years. The Siri system in Chevy vehicles allows drivers to access just about anything just by asking for it aloud, and it can even read you your text messages to limit distracting driving.
Sounds great, right? Not so fast. A new Chevrolet commercial for the new Equinox with Siri integration show the risks associated with having your texts read out loud, especially with your significant other in the car.
The commercial does a good job of displaying the benefits of Siri integration, while also being humorous, but despite Chevy’s light-hearted approach to this particular ad, the Detroit automaker has high hopes for Siri and its capabilities.
“Safe, easy, reliable and portable connectivity is a top priority for our customers, and Siri complements MyLink’s existing capabilities to help deliver an incredible driving experience,” said Cristi Landy, Chevrolet marketing director, in a press release.
