When Chevrolet announced a couple years back that it would be introducing its first rear-wheel drive sedan since the 1996 Caprice, fans went wild. The Chevrolet SS Sedan was sure to be the performance car that everyone wanted. And then Chevy dropped the ball: no manual transmission was made available.

But now, the folks at GM Authority have done some digging on Chevy’s build and price configurator for the 2015 model, and what a discovery they have made. A Chevy SS manual transmission is finally available—and at no extra charge.

The six-speed manual gearbox, just like the six-speed automatic, is mated to a 6.2-liter V8 SFI engine, good for 415 horsepower. As has been the case with the SS since it hit the market, options are limited. Aside from wheel and color decisions, the driver can opt for just a few extras, like the power sunroof and full-size spare tire and wheel, plus a handful of accessories.

But does that even matter now that we have a manual transmission for the Chevy SS? The answer is no. No, it does not.

Well played, Chevy. Well played.
