Chevy Tallies Best June Retail Sales Figure in a Decade

Chevrolet posted a 2.5% year-over-year sales increase at retail in June, delivering 141,091 vehicles to customers in the United States for its best retail performance in a decade. Overall sales were flat at 181,387 units as General Motors continues to steadily phase out daily rental sales.

Through six months, Chevrolet’s retail sales are up 3% from the first half of 2015 at a total of 758,205 vehicles delivered. Overall sales are down 4.4% at just over one million units.

A number of Chevrolet vehicles saw considerable gains at retail. Sales of the Colorado were up 27%, Suburban was up 37%, Tahoe was up 25%, and Trax was up 23%. The Colorado posted its best June since 2006, and the Tahoe and Suburban both posted their best June sales since 2008.

The Silverado Crew Cab put up its best June sales at retail since 2005, while the Silverado Heavy Duty has posted its best six-month sales total since 2008.

Cars that also made great gains at retail include the Impala (up 77%), Spark (up 96%), Volt (up 57%), and Sonic (up 41%). The Impala posted its single best month at retail since September 2008, while the Sonic put up its best June mark ever. Factoring in fleet sales, Volt was up 58.1%, Impala was up 46.7%, and Spark was up 70.1%.

The new Malibu also posted another month of overall sales gains, up 6% year-over-year with a total of 16,138 units sold. Through six months, sales of the Malibu total 120,325 units, up 24.7% from 2015.
