Chevy Volt Owners Request Updates for 2016

The 2014 Chevy Volt

We’ll be getting a whole new generation of the Chevy Volt in 2016, and already Chevy Volt owners are telling General Motors what changes they would like to see when it comes. Traditionally, Chevy Volt owners are incredibly loyal and supportive, and as they’ve come to know their own Volts, it makes sense that they would be a good resource for GM to tap for future redesigns. Whether GM will listen and meet their demands is not yet clear, however.

According to a report from Automotive News, Chevy Volt owners are clamoring for a fifth seat, a longer electric driving range, and, of course, a lower price, because why can’t everything be cheaper?

It is actually expected that the 2016 Chevy Volt will be more affordable than the current model, and range is likely to increase at least a little, but we can’t say with certainty that range will improve by a large percent, unfortunately. As for the fifth seat, Chevy has given no indication that one is in the works. Because of the design of the Volt’s battery, in fact, it is not possible to add a middle seat in the second row. A complete battery redesign would be necessary, and we’re not quite sure GM wants to foot the bill for that.
