Chevy Volt’s Guinness World Record Contribution Snags a Win

What happens when you gather 431 plug-in electric vehicles in one place? You get a Guinness World Record. Last week, 431 plug-in EV drivers gathered in Montreal to break the standing Guinness record of 305 plug-in. Though many car critics think the Volt’s popularity is slowly decreasing, the turnout for this Guinness record says otherwise. According to a final (unofficial) count, almost 200 Chevy Volts turned out for the gathering, covering almost half of the record’s 431 cars. With GM investing $449 million total in both its Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant, where the Volt is manufactured, and the Brownstone Battery Assembly plant, which produces the Volt’s batteries, there’s no denying that there are some big changes to come for the EV.
