A number of Chevrolet’s offerings posted double-digit sales increase in December overall. Sales of the Camaro increased 30.5% at 7,000 units; sales of the Colorado rose 19.2% with 9,431 units; Corvette sales increased 10.4% at 2,709 units; Equinox sales rose 24.6% at 27,195 units; Impala sales rose 19.1% at 10,794 units; Malibu sales increased 87.3% at 22,764 units; Spark sales rose three-fold, increasing 207.6% year-over-year with 4,257 units delivered; Suburban totaled 7,573 units, up 19.3%; Tahoe sales increased 21.7% at 11,897 units; Traverse sales totaled 10,381 units, up 13.5%; Trax sales rose 50.4% at 8,007 units; and Volt sales increased 74.6% at 3,691 units.

December also marked the start of sales for the Chevrolet Bolt; a total of 579 units were delivered during its first month.

Many of these same vehicles experienced comparably large growth at retail, with the Volt and Equinox both putting up their best retail performance for any month in their respective histories. Traverse saw its best December at retail ever, the Colorado had its best December retail performance since 2004, and the Malibu had its best December at retail since 1980.

Chevrolet sold a total of 2,096,510 vehicles in 2016, a 1.4% decrease that could largely be attributed to the move away from daily rental sales. Volume-wise, the brand was led by the Silverado’s sales total of 574,876 units. Notable full-year increases include a 28.8% increase for the Colorado, 16.9% increase for the Malibu, 25.4% increase for Trax, and 60.7% increase for Volt.

Retail-wise, Chevrolet’s sales increased 3.2% with 1,621,785 vehicles delivered. Both the Volt and Traverse saw their best-ever full-year retail sales totals in 2016.
