The continuing success of models like the Chrysler 300 and Pacifica helped the brand to actually increase sales by a large margin last month

Chrysler had some surprisingly great sales in November

Throughout Fiat Chrysler’s sales reports in 2017, there has been one constant: Chrysler brand sales have been on the decline. However, November brought a rather large surprise for FCA, subverting that trend.

In fact, Chrysler sales were up by 14% last month.

Aiding in the sales increases for Chrysler were strong performances from the Chrysler 300 and Pacifica. Chrysler sold 2,951 Chrysler 300 sedans last month, a 15% sales increase.

Meanwhile, Pacifica sales were up by 51%. This was more than enough to offset the 99% sales decline that its predecessor, the Chrysler Town and Country, experienced last month.

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was awarded a five star overall safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Despite the brand’s success in November, its sales are still on a year-to-date decline. Compared to the first 11 months of 2016, Chrysler brand sales are down by 20%. Still, this is much better than Chrysler’s year-to-date sales during the rest of 2017.

Another brand that had improving sales last month was Jeep. Compared to a year earlier, Jeep sales were only down by a slight 2%, aided by a strong outing from the brand-new Jeep Compass.

While the Ram pickup performed fine last month, the Ram brand suffered just a bit

If Jeep and Chrysler experienced better sales months in November, then Dodge and Ram were a bit worse for the ware. Ram, usually FCA’s strongest performer in terms of sales growth, experienced a 5% sales decline in November.

This is in spite of the fact that Ram Pickup sales stayed relatively the same compared to a year ago. Instead, the true cause was a decline in sales for the ProMaster Van model.

As the Dart and Viper disappear from Dodge’s lineup, so do a sizable amount of sales

Dodge sales, meanwhile, were down 15% last month. This is due in part to the outgoing Dart and Viper models, which were deleted from the Dodge lineup earlier this year.

November once again proved itself to be a big month for minivans, as the Dodge Grand Caravan continued to be the brand’s best-seller. Caravan sales were up by 28% as the month drew to an end.

Overall sales for FCA came in at 154,919 units at the end of November, a 4% sales decline. FCA’s year-to-date sales are still down by 8%.
