Chrysler Considers Adding Crossover Model to Future Lineup
Chrysler is possibly adding a crossover to its future lineup
Crossovers are the new black in the automotive industry. Almost every carmaker is rushing to beef their lineup with crossovers in a variety of sizes. In fact, Mitsubishi has even decided to offer only crossovers to their customers. So it really shouldn’t come as a surprise that Chrysler is considering adding some crossovers to its lineup, too.
According to Allpar magazine, the American carmaker is looking to shake up its model lineup, expanding it to include a crossover vehicle. This crossover will come in place of the Chrysler 100, which was supposed to come to dealerships next year. The Chrysler 100 was a small compact sedan set to compete with the likes of the Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze, and Ford Focus.
Now, in place of the Chrysler 100, the carmaker will supposedly offer a large seven-seat crossover, which will arrive in 2017. This crossover will be a 2018 model. There are very few details out there about this new crossover, but it’s likely it will use the same platform as the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country, which means it will offer consumers front-wheel-drive and a V6 engine. In terms of size, rumors say the Chrysler crossover will be bigger than the Dodge Durango.
