Chrysler Group’s LGBT Workplace Policies, Benefits Earn It Perfect Score from HRC

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) released its annual report, detailing how well employers treat and provide for their lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) workers. This marks the ninth time that Chrysler Group’s LGBT workplace policies and benefits have earned the automaker a perfect score on the HRC’s Annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), since the organization started putting them out in 2002. Until recently, Chrysler Group was the only automaker to consistently achieve a perfect rating.

The 2015 CEI report rated nearly 1,000 employers in the United States, including all of the Fortune 500. The report takes into consideration workplace policies, including domestic partner benefits (medical, dependent care, retirement, etc.). It’s important to note that Chrysler Group also provides coverage for necessary care associated with transgendered employees.

“Chrysler Group is very proud of our longstanding support of our LGBT employees, customers and communities,” said Georgette Borrego Dulworth, the director of Talent Acquisition & Diversity at Chrysler Group. “Our consistent record of providing an inclusive work culture and benefit parity for our LGBT employees represents our core belief in the talents and potential of our people. These are not things you do because you have to, but because they are the right things to do.”

In addition, Chrysler has a Gay and Lesbian Alliance (GALA), which is one of six Employee Resource Groups (ERG) for the company. The group allows employees to celebrate their differences and benefit the community through volunteerism and charitable acts.
