Chrysler will produce the Jeep in China

Jeep is looking to make its way into the Chinese market.   This move would be huge, since the SUV segment is one of the fastest growing in China right now.

Fiat is helping Chrysler by looking for a new China partner to get production under way.  Currently, Fiat is partnered with Guangzhou Automobile Group.  Chrysler plans to produce over 100,000 Jeeps in China by next year, which would ultimately help Fiat reach their 300,000 vehicles sales goal in the country by next year as well.

According to Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, “In China we have a good partner, and we have the possibility to use a second one to develop Jeep.”

Although no definite plans for this expansion have been released, Chrysler is certainly expressing interest in the idea. This would be a huge strategic move for Chrysler since China is one of the fastest growing segments for the automotive industry.
