Chrysler to Deliver an Additional 500 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrids to Waymo
Waymo just got way more Pacificas
Late last year, Chrysler donated 100 custom Pacifica vehicles to Waymo, the self-driving car offshoot of Google. These Chrysler Pacifica models were specially constructed and designed for autonomous driving capabilities.
Waymo and Chrysler are now ramping up to take their partnership to the next level. As such, Chrysler is set to deliver an additional 500 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrids to Waymo.

Production of these 500 minivan models is set to begin sometime later this month. Once the Chrysler Pacificas are delivered, Waymo will outfit them with autonomous driving technologies.
As Chrysler is currently lacking any sort of autonomous driving initiative of its own, the partnership with Waymo is a way for the brand to invest in this ever-growing automotive trend. Meanwhile, the partnership is also beneficial for Waymo, as it receives some of the most proficient and eco-friendly vehicles in the Chrysler lineup for its self-driving fleet.
Autonomous Automobiles on the Go: Self-Driving Pacifica Spotted in California
“The collaboration between FCA and Waymo has been advantageous for both companies as we continue to work together to fully understand the steps needed to bring self-driving vehicles to market,” said Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive Officer of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. “The addition of 500 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans is a further acknowledgement of the hard work put forth by both engineering teams.”
Once these vehicles are ready for testing, Waymo will offer residents in the Phoenix, Arizona area the chance to participate in test runs for the self-driving Pacifica fleet. So, if you’ve always wanted to be a test subject in an autonomous automobile experiment, then Chrysler and Waymo may have the perfect opportunity for you.
