The production 2017 Honda Civic Type R debuts at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show

The American Honda Civic Type R is one automotive enthusiast dream that shall be deferred no longer—on March 26, 2017; the hot hatch will officially (finally!) land on US soil.

After making its world debut earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show, the first production Civic Type R to ever come to America will enjoy its US premiere at the AutoCon automotive performance and tuning convention in Los Angeles, California. The on-stage unveiling will happen on March 26 at 4:00 pm PDT.

After that, East Coast denizens will get a chance to see the Type R when it makes an appearance at the New York International Auto Show in Manhattan, beginning April 12.

Honda News: New Honda Civic Type R debuts in Geneva

If you live in that part of America that is neither Los Angeles nor New York City, you may have to wait until late spring, when the car goes on sale nationwide. Though an official MSRP has yet to be revealed, Honda says that the vehicle will carry a starting price in the mid-$30,000 range.

When it hits dealerships in a few months, the 2017 Civic Type R will be the fastest, most powerful Honda ever sold in America. The hatchback’s 2.0-liter DOHC, direct-injected and turbocharged i-VTEC in-line 4-cylinder engine pumps out an impressive 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

“The fastest, most powerful Honda ever sold in America, the Type R caps off the incredible success story of our 10th generation Civic lineup,” Honda executive Jeff Conrad said at the car’s world debut in Geneva. “We’re happy to inform our US enthusiasts that the long wait for the forbidden fruit of Honda Type R performance is nearly over!”
