The 2013 Lambrecht Chevrolet auction in Pierce, Nebraska, was the event of a lifetime. Over 500 cars were found in an old dealership, including a 1959 Bel Air and a 1960 Corvair Monza that had only been driven a mile. The cars covered a range of years from 1958-1980 and brought collectors together from all over the world hoping to take one of the vintage vehicles home.

Good to Know for New and Classic Rides: Learn if your car really needs to be waxed

One of the auction attendees was Cherie Barber of Australia, a restoration expert who runs Renovating for Profit and also appears on television to give tips about buying, selling, and remodeling homes. She headed over to the mythic field of Chevys in Nebraska and fell in love with a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, paying $38,500 for the classic. After bringing it home, Barber spent seven months working on it and restoring it to its former glory. What was once a dusty old beater is now a brilliant red and white car named Mildred with an immaculate black and white interior.

To celebrate, Barber ran a social media contest to act as a limo for some very lucky students during formal season (formal is the Australian equivalent of prom). Tiana Davidson and Isabella Russo got to ride in the plush back seats to the Kellyville High School formal, and were driven by Cherie Barber herself.

For at least one of the girls, this was their first ride in a Chevy. This Bel Air is the only Lambrecht Chevrolet to make it Down Under, and so far it seems to be a pretty good ambassador for the brand.
