Kia Soul a Best New Car of 2014

About.com editor, Aaron Gold, recently released his list of the Best New Cars of 2014, and we were pleased to see a News Wheel (and hamster) favorite make the final cut: Gold named the 2014 Kia Soul a Best New Car for 2014. The Soul was among eleven other vehicles to be named to the list, which included other award-winning models such as the Corvette Stingray (is anyone really surprised?) and the Jaguar F-Type Convertible. Clearly the Soul is in good company.

“Keeping what made the first-generation Soul special while addressing areas for improvement was no easy task, but our dealers and customers – and now the editors of About.com – have confirmed that we hit the mark,” announced Michael Sprague, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Kia Motors America. “With its very passionate following of fans, it was vitally important that the all-new 2014 Soul retain its iconic design, functionality, and value while providing a more premium interior and improved driving dynamics.”

The Soul was lauded for doing what many other vehicles fail to do—maintaining the “good thing” it has going for it. Gold praised the original Soul and commends the newest version for keeping “the original Soul’s style and character intact, while improving the mechanical bits to give it a more substantial and expensive feel.” And, as Gold points out, the Soul isn’t expensive; it just feels like it should be.

The Kia Soul has been on fire recently (and not like the Porsche 911 GT3s), having just appeared in Chicago with an all-new electric powertrain. Keep checking back with us for more news on the Kia Soul!
